Drought Status

According to the National Integrated Drought Information System (NIDIS), 22% of the state is currently experiencing some level of drought with 18% in the moderate drought category and 4% in a severe drought. The map featured above shows the drought conditions on October 31.

Winterize your sprinkler system. Typically around this time of year, the district responds to several service calls for frozen/broken irrigation lines.

Prep your pipes for freezing temps! Be sure your pipes are ready for the cold months ahead. Frozen or broken pipes are costly to repair and leave you without water.

Fall lawn care can prevent your lawn from getting strained during the coldest months ahead and help it reemerge healthy and lush in the springtime.

As of November 6, cumulative precipitation in the Colorado River watershed was tracking at 98% of average and the South Platte River watershed was tracking at 60% of average. Snowpack in the Colorado River is tracking at 95% of normal and is tracking at 67% of normal in the South Platte River watershed.

Denver Water’s supply reservoir contents as of November 6 are represented in the table below. Reservoir totals are 87% full and were 85% full this time last year.
